I love hosting and wish I could do it more often. I grew up really close to my family and friends, so I’m always trying to make it special when I have friends over.

If you’re hosting a Friendmas party this year and looking for fun party game ideas, cute invitations, and other tips, I’m writing this post series to help you throw the perfect Friendmas party. I know your friends will appreciate all the effort you put into planning this party, so let’s get started!

Friendmas Party Invitations

First things first, you need to figure out your Friendmas party invitations and make a list of how many people you want to invite so you can start preparing.

Etsy has some beautiful options, but since we’re friends now 😜, I made some FREE editable Friendmas party invitations just for you. They’re perfect!

Friendmas Party Ideas Games

Here are some friendmas party ideas games that will get all your friends laughing and maybe a little tipsy 😜

1. Holiday Charades

  • How to Play: Write holiday-themed phrases on pieces of paper (e.g., decorating a tree, building a snowman, Santa getting stuck in a chimney). Players take turns drawing a phrase and acting it out while the others guess.

I’m way too lazy to DIY the cards, so if you’re like me, get these Amazon cards for playing Christmas charades with friends!

2. Christmas Trivia

  • How to Play: Prepare a set of Christmas-related trivia questions. Questions could be about holiday traditions, Christmas movies, songs, or history. Divide everyone into teams and see who knows the most.

3. Secret Santa Gift Exchange Game

  • How to Play: Everyone brings a small gift (under $10 or $20), and you draw numbers to determine the order in which people pick gifts. The first person picks a gift, the second person can either take a new gift or “steal” the first person’s gift. This continues until all gifts are chosen.

4. Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

  • How to Play: Provide participants with pre-made gingerbread house kits (or gingerbread pieces, icing, and candy to build their own). Set up a decorating station with frosting, candy, and edible decorations. Have a set amount of time (30-45 minutes) for everyone to decorate their houses.
  • You can have categories for the best, most unique, or funniest house. Plus, everyone gets to enjoy the sweet results afterward!
  • Variation: If you want to make it a bit more competitive, have a “theme” for the houses (e.g., Winter Wonderland, Santa’s Workshop, or Haunted Gingerbread House).

What to buy:

I feel like this game can get pricey if you buy all the ingredients yourself, so I would either ask your friends to contribute or make this a potluck-style game night.

Gingerbread House Kit (optional)

  • Pre-made gingerbread house kit (includes the house pieces and icing)

Frosting & Icing

  • Royal icing (for sticking pieces together and decorating)
    • You can either buy pre-made royal icing or make your own with powdered sugar, egg whites, and a bit of lemon juice or cream of tartar.
  • Colored icing (if you want a variety of colors for decoration)

Edible Decorations

  • Candy Canes
  • M&Ms or other colored candy pieces
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Gummy candies (worms, bears, etc.)
  • Jelly beans
  • Chocolate chips or chunks
  • Sprinkles (rainbow, sugar crystals, etc.)
  • Sugar pearls or edible glitter
  • Mini pretzels (for roof shingles or accents)
  • Licorice (twists or ropes) for window panes or roof trims
  • Candy pearls or fruit slices
  • Coconut flakes (for snow)
  • Colored sugars for extra sparkle
  • Oreos
  • Hard candies (like Jolly Ranchers or Lifesavers) to make windows

Tools

  • Piping bags or ziplock bags (for applying icing)
  • Spatulas or knives (to spread icing smoothly)
  • Paper towels (for cleanup)

Optional

  • Mini chocolate bars or candy bars (for roofing or a front door)
  • Caramel (for drizzling or making icicles)
  • Nuts (like almonds or hazelnuts for extra texture)
  • Fruit leather (for “doors” or window frames)

5. Sip & Guess

  • How to Play: This is a more casual version of a tasting game where you prepare a series of holiday drinks and let everyone take a sip. After tasting, your friends write down their guesses for the ingredients (or flavors) in the drink. For example, in a cup of eggnog, they might guess “eggs, milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla.” The friend who guesses the most ingredients correctly wins.

6. Christmas Beer Pong

  • What You Need:
    • Red Solo cups (12-20 cups per side, depending on the type of game you want to play).
    • Ping pong balls (or any small, lightweight balls).
    • Table (a standard beer pong table works, but any long table will do).
    • Holiday-themed drinks (beer, cider, eggnog, cranberry punch, hot chocolate, etc.).
    • Decorations (optional) – Red, green, gold, or silver cups, or even little holiday lights on the table.
  • Cup Arrangement:
    • Set up your cups in a triangle formation at both ends of the table. You can arrange 10 cups in a pyramid (like the classic beer pong setup) or even use fewer cups for a quicker game.
  • Holiday Twist Rule: For every “miss” or “fumble,” the player must sing a line from a Christmas carol or jingle before continuing the game (or do a fun holiday-themed challenge).

7. Pin the Nose on Rudolph

  • How to Play: A holiday version of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.” Blindfolded players try to pin a red nose on a poster of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

I know this seems like a kids’ game, but trust me, adults can have a lot of fun too! You can either pin the nose or the tail—your choice!

8. Christmas Scavenger Hunt

  • How to Play: Create a list of holiday-themed items that players need to find around the house or yard (e.g., candy cane, ornament, Santa hat). You can make it competitive by setting a timer or make it cooperative if you have a larger group.

9. Holiday “Would You Rather?”

  • How to Play: Prepare a list of holiday-themed “Would you rather?” questions (e.g., “Would you rather spend Christmas in the North Pole or at the beach?”). Players take turns answering, and everyone can explain why they chose their answers.

10. Gift Wrap Relay Race

  • How to Play: Set up stations with wrapping paper, tape, and bows. Divide into teams and race to wrap a gift (it can be a box or an odd-shaped item) the fastest. The twist? do it with oven mitts on!

You probably don’t have a ton of oven mitts. Here’s a cheap set you can use for your party.

11. Holiday Cup Stack Challenge

  • How to Play: Give each player a stack of red and green plastic cups. The goal is to stack them into a pyramid and then unstack them, all while racing against the clock or other friends.
  • Why it’s fun: It’s a fun, competitive game that can get pretty intense!

12. Holiday Bingo

  • How to Play: Create holiday-themed bingo cards (you can find printable versions online) and call out items like “snowman,” “reindeer,” “Christmas tree,” etc. The winner gets a small prize.

If you’re looking for games that are quick and easy to set up, these should give you a fun and festive way to keep everyone entertained throughout the party.

13. DIY Ornament Game

  • How to play: Your friends will create their own ornaments using craft supplies (think glitter, markers, ribbons, and beads). Once everyone is done making their ornaments, you can either:
  1. Ornament Exchange – Have everyone draw numbers to see the order in which they’ll pick an ornament made by someone else.
  2. Ornament Guessing Game – Put the ornaments into a bag or box, and have everyone guess who made each one. The person with the most correct guesses wins a small prize!

14. Christmas Bow Game with a Spatula

I recently saw this game on TikTok, and I’m dying to try it out with my friends and family.

  • How to play: Place a pile of Christmas bows in the center of the room or on a table. Your friends will take turns using only a spatula to pick up a bow and place it on their head (or any other designated place—like a cup, a bow or a gift box). The thing is they can’t use their hands! They must use the spatula to pick up and move the bows.
  • Each player has 1 minute to try and place as many bows on their head or in their designated spot as possible. If a bow falls off, they have to pick it back up with the spatula and continue. The person who places the most bows in the allotted time wins the round. You can play multiple rounds for more fun!
  • Fun twist: if the bow falls off, the player has to take a shot!

What You’ll Need:

  • Christmas bows (the kind you typically use for gift wrapping)
  • A spatula (plastic or wooden works best)
  • Timer or stopwatch
