Autumn Breeze Whipped Tallow Balm

Makes about 8-10 ounces

Materials

  • ½ cup tallow
  • 2 tablespoons carrier oil
  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg
  • 10 drops Sweet Orange essential oil
  • 4 drops Cinnamon essential oil
  • 6 drops Vanilla essential oil
  • 6 drops Nutmeg essential oil
  • Brown mica powder

Instructions

  • Whip the tallow on its own first with a hand mixer until it starts to soften and loosen up.
  • Slowly drizzle in the carrier oil while continuing to whip, until fully incorporated.
  • Add the nutmeg and whip to combine.
  • Add the essential oils one at a time, whipping briefly between each.
  • Add the brown mica powder and whip until the color is evenly distributed, with no streaks to your liking.
  • Continue whipping for a few minutes total, until light and fluffy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • Spoon into a jar. It'll firm up a bit more as it fully sets at room temperature.

Notes

  • Since this skips the pre-chill step, your batch may whip up a bit airier/softer at first, it'll still firm up as it sits at room temp, but keep an eye on final texture once fully set.
  • Go light on the mica at first and build up gradually, it's easy to end up darker than you want, especially layered with the natural tallow color underneath.
