Beef Tallow Conditioner
This nourishing DIY beef tallow conditioner combines natural oils and optional ingredients for extra slip, easy detangling, and soft, healthy hair.
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup beef tallow
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp aloe vera gel I prefer clear, 100% organic
- Essential oils lavender, rosemary, or peppermint Optional
- 1 –2 tsp BTMS-50 for extra slip and detangling Optional
- 1 –2 tbsp marshmallow root tea steeped & strained Optional
- 1 tsp vegetable glycerin Optional
- 1 –2 tsp argan or sweet almond oil Optional
In a double boiler, melt coconut oil, beef tallow, and BTMS-50 over low heat.
Let the mixture cool for 10-15 minutes, then whip with a hand mixer until light and fluffy.
Add apple cider vinegar, aloe vera gel, and any optional add-ins.
Mix well and transfer to a clean jar with a lid.
Apply to damp hair, focusing on the ends. Rinse after a few minutes, or use a small amount as a leave-in for dry ends.
- Refrigerate or use within a couple of weeks if no preservative is added.

If you plan to store this conditioner for more than a week, you’ll need a broad-spectrum preservative to keep it fresh and prevent mold or bacteria growth.
