Calendula Infused Oils

Print Recipe
Here are two easy methods to make your own calendula infused oil at home. A slow, traditional way and a quick, heat-infused option.

Ingredients

  • Calendula
  • Carrier oil
  • Glass jar
  • Fine mesh strainer or Cheesecloth.

Instructions

  • Make sure your calendula is dried. Then add them to a jar, filling about half way.
  • Cover the flowers in a carrier oil of your choice. Make sure they are completely covered.
  • Lit sit in the jar for around 6 weeks to slowly infuse.
  • (Heat Method): If you don’t want to wait 6 weeks, you can make the calendula oil by gently heating the jar. Place the jar (with the lid off) into a small pot of water over very low heat, just warm enough to heat the oil without boiling it. Let it sit for 2–4 hours, making sure the water stays warm but not too hot. Always keep an eye on it!
  • After your infusion is ready, strain out the flowers using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Pour the oil into a clean jar, dropper or bottle and that’s it. Your calendula infused oil is ready to use.

Notes

  • Any carrier oil will work , it just depends on what you plan to use the infused oil for.
  • Make sure everything (your jar, your hands, your strainer) is super clean and dry to keep your oil fresh.
  • For the quick infusion, keep the heat low and never let the oil bubble or fry the flowers.
