Homemade Tallow Lotion Bars
Create your own nourishing tallow lotion bars with this simple, customizable recipe. Made with grass-fed tallow, avocado oil, and beeswax, these bars are soft, moisturizing, and full of skin benefits.
Yield: 8 bars
- 1/2 cup grass-fed tallow
- 1/2 cup avocado oil
- 1/2 cup beeswax
- 1 tsp vitamin E oil
- 20-30 drops essential oils your choice
- Silicone mold
In a double boiler, melt the tallow and beeswax together until fully liquid.
Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the avocado oil, vitamin E oil, and essential oils.
Carefully pour the mixture into silicone molds of your choice.
Place the mold in the refrigerator or freezer and let the lotion bars harden (about 1 hour).
Once solid, remove the bars from the molds and place them in a cool storage container. Keep in a cool place as the bars will melt slightly if left in the sun.
Enjoy your homemade, nourishing lotion bars!
- Any carrier oil will work. While avocado oil is great for its moisturizing properties, you can substitute it with other carrier oils like coconut oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil if you prefer.
- Be sure to use high-quality, skin-safe essential oils, especially if you have sensitive skin. Always do a patch test to ensure no irritation.
- These lotion bars will melt in hot temperatures, so keep them in a cool, dry place. A bathroom drawer or shelf works well, but avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or hot areas like your car or a windowsill.
