Laundry Detergent Pods

Makes between 12-16 pods depending on the mold you use.

Materials

  • ½ cup washing soda
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • ¼ cup salt
  • 2 –3 tablespoons Sal Suds
  • 20 drops essential oils optional

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the washing soda, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the essential oils and stir to distribute them evenly.
  • Drizzle in the Sal Suds, mixing as you go. The mixture should resemble damp sand and hold together when squeezed. Add more Sal Suds, a teaspoon at a time, if needed.
  • Press the mixture firmly into silicone molds or ice cube trays.
  • Allow the pods to air dry for 24-48 hours, or until completely hard.
  • Remove from the molds and store in an airtight container.
  • How to Use
Use 1 pod for regular loads.
Use 2 pods for large or heavily soiled loads.

Notes

  • The salt helps absorb moisture and keeps the pods from becoming too soft.
  • Sal Suds is highly concentrated, so only a small amount is needed.
Essential oils are optional and mainly add fragrance.
  • If you have hard water or extra dirty laundry, add 1 tablespoon of sodium percarbonate directly to the wash for extra stain-fighting power.
