Candy Cane Soap

Festive, creamy, and peppermint-sweet this homemade Candy Cane Soap looks as good as it smells! Perfect for Christmas gifting or a cozy winter self-care treat.

Materials

  • 2 lbs melt-and-pour soap base
  • Red mica powder as desired
  • 120 drops essential oils total 1% dilution

Instructions

  • Cut the soap base into cubes and split evenly into two bowls. Melt using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring often.
  • Add red mica powder to one bowl and stir until you reach your desired candy-cane shade. Leave the other half white.
  • Divide your essential oil blend evenly between both bowls and stir well.
  • Pour a layer of one color into the mold and let it set for 5-10 minutes before doing the next layer.
  • Alternate colors to create stripes. You will have to reheat the soap while you wait for the layer to set.
  • Allow the soap to fully cool and harden before removing it from the mold.
  • Slice and store in a cool, dry place.

Notes

  • If you wait too long for the layer to harden, it might break apart easily after you cut it.
  • I used about 2 teaspoons of mica powder to get the darker red color. It did not stain my skin while using.
  • I used a goat milks soap base.
