If there’s one scent that instantly makes me think of Christmas, it’s candy cane. I’m obsessed with anything peppermint during the holidays candles, lip balm, scrubs… you name it. So of course, I had to make this Candy Cane Soap! It’s festive, smells incredible, and looks just like a candy cane when you slice it.
These make adorable homemade Christmas gifts for friends, neighbors, or even stocking stuffers (and trust me, everyone will love them).

This makes around 12 soap bars.
Candy Cane Soap Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs melt-and-pour soap base
- Red mica powder (as desired)
- 120 drops essential oils total (1% dilution)
- Soap mold kit

Instructions:
1. Melt Your Soap Base
Cut your melt-and-pour base into small cubes so it melts evenly.
Divide it into two bowls one will be your red candy-cane layer, and the other will stay white.
Melt each bowl using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring in between until smooth and fully melted.

2. Color and Scent
Add your red mica powder to one of the bowls and stir until you reach your perfect candy-cane shade. (I used about 2 teaspoons to get that rich Christmas red.)
Then, divide your Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend evenly between both bowls and mix well.
Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend:
- 70 drops peppermint essential oil
- 40 drops vanilla oleoresin
- 10 drops sweet orange essential oil

3. Pour and Layer
Pour a layer of one color into your mold and let it set for 5–10 minutes. When it’s firm enough to hold the next color but still slightly warm, pour your next layer. Alternate colors to create that striped candy-cane look. You may need to reheat the soap slightly between layers.

Tip: If you wait too long between layers, the soap can separate when you cut it later. So don’t let it get too hard!
4. Cool, Slice & Enjoy
Once you’ve finished your layers, let the soap harden completely before removing it from the mold.

Slice it into bars and store them in a cool, dry place. They’ll be ready to use (or wrap up as gifts!) within a few hours.

Notes:
- I used a goat milk soap base, and it gave the soap a creamy, luxurious feel.
- The red mica didn’t stain my skin it just made the prettiest swirl effect once I started using the bar.
- Wrap each bar in a little clear bag with a red-and-white ribbon for a perfect holiday touch.
