Gingerbread Body Butter

This makes around 6-8 ounces.

Materials

  • 1/4 cup shea butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons almond oil
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 20 drops vanilla oleoresin 10 drops cinnamon leaf, 10 drops ginger, and 5 drops clove essential oil

Instructions

  • In a double boiler, combine shea butter, coconut oil, almond oil, beeswax, ginger, and cinnamon. Heat gently until fully melted and smooth.
  • Remove from heat and allow the mixture to sit at room temperature (or in the refrigerator) until it begins to harden but is not fully solid, about 30-45 minutes.
  • Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the mixture for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  • Then, add your essential oils. Whip again briefly to blend everything evenly.
  • Transfer your finished body butter into airtight jars or tins. Store in a cool, dry place and use within 6 months.

Notes

  • Any essential oils will work.
  • Any carrier oil will work!
  • You can strain out the cinnamon and ginger if you don’t like the bits in it.
