Homemade Fertilizer Using Comfrey Tea

A simple homemade comfrey tea fertilizer recipe to naturally boost your plants’ health. Easy to make with just comfrey and water.

Materials

  • Comfrey
  • Water
  • Jar

Instructions

  • Add your comfrey to your glass jar, about ¾ full.
  • Fill the rest with water.
  • Add your lid and secure it tightly. Leave for 6+ weeks.
  • If you don’t want to wait 6+ weeks for your comfrey tea to brew, you can also make a quick heat infusion! Heat the pot over low heat and bring it to a gentle simmer. You don’t want a rolling boil just a soft simmer that warms the water and helps release all those good nutrients.Let it simmer for a couple hours. After simmering, remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for several hours or overnight.
  • Then strain out the comfrey leaves.
  • Dilute the strong comfrey tea with water 1 to 1 and add to your garden soil to help fertilize it.

Notes

  • Fresh comfrey leaves do work best, but I used dried and it worked great too.
  • This smells pretty bad, so keep it outside!
