Tallow Soap Recipe

Make your own nourishing homemade tallow soap with this simple melt-and-pour recipe. Combining goat milk soap base, beef tallow, and your favorite essential oils, this soap is perfect for a moisturizing, natural cleanse.

Materials

  • 1/2 lb melt and pour soap base (I used goat milk soap base)
  • 1 tbsp beef rendered tallow
  • 20 drops essential oils (optional)
  • soap mold

Instructions

  • Begin by cutting your melt and pour soap base into tiny squares. This step ensures even melting, so don’t skip it! You want to make sure every little piece melts evenly without any clumps.
  • Place the soap base pieces in a glass jar. You can melt them either on the stove or in the microwave, whichever method you prefer. If using the stove, melt it over low heat, stirring frequently. If you’re using the microwave, heat in short bursts of 20-30 seconds, stirring in between to prevent burning.
  • Once your soap base is completely melted and smooth, add the tallow. Stir in 1 tablespoon of beef rendered tallow.
  • Let the mixture cool for just a moment before adding your essential oils. This helps preserve their natural properties. Stir the oils in thoroughly, feel free to experiment with different blends to create your perfect scent.
  • Carefully pour your soap mixture into the soap molds.
  • Allow the soap to cool and harden for a few hours. Once it’s solid, pop it out of the molds, and You’ve got yourself some beautifully handmade tallow soap!

Notes

  • Add Color: You can add a little mica powder to give it a soft, pastel color. It’s an easy way to make your soap unique!
  • Experiment with Scents: Essential oils can really personalize your soap. Lavender is great for relaxation, eucalyptus is refreshing, and vanilla adds a sweet touch.
