If you’re looking to take your skincare routine to the next level with something natural and homemade, you’re about to be obsessed with this tallow soap recipe. Not only is it easy to make, but it’s also nourishing and great for all skin types. Plus, you can personalize your soap with essential oils, colors, and fun shapes.

I’m in the process of making tallow recipes because, between us, I’m now obsessed with tallow. I purchased mine from Lady May Tallow on Etsy. I’ve never tried any other brand, and I absolutely love it. And in case you’re wondering, it’s completely odorless, which I love.

This recipe makes two tallow soap bars. If you’d like to make more, simply double the ingredients. It’s completely normal for the soap to have some bubbles and small imperfections, as it’s an oil-based soap. These variations are part of the natural process and won’t affect the quality of the soap.

Why Use Tallow Soap?

Tallow soap is amazing because it’s rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, which help nourish and hydrate your skin. It also has natural moisturizing properties that will leave your skin feeling soft without being greasy.Plus, if you have sensitive skin, tallow is gentle enough, making it perfect if you struggle with harsh chemicals in store-bought soaps.

Homemade Tallow Soap Recipe

Ingredients

Instructions

1. Cut the Soap Base

Begin by cutting your melt and pour soap base into tiny squares. This step ensures even melting, so don’t skip it! You want to make sure every little piece melts evenly without any clumps.

2. Melt the Soap Base

Place the soap base pieces in a glass jar. You can melt them either on the stove or in the microwave, whichever method you prefer. If using the stove, melt it over low heat, stirring frequently. If you’re using the microwave, heat in short bursts of 20-30 seconds, stirring in between to prevent burning.

3. Add the Tallow

Once your soap base is completely melted and smooth, add the tallow. Stir in 1 tablespoon of beef rendered tallow.

Send it to yourself now and try it out when you’re ready!

4. Add Essential Oils

Let the mixture cool for just a moment before adding your essential oils. This helps preserve their natural properties. Stir the oils in thoroughly, feel free to experiment with different blends to create your perfect scent.

5. Pour into Molds

Carefully pour your soap mixture into the soap molds.

6. Let the Soap Set

Allow the soap to cool and harden for a few hours. Once it’s solid, pop it out of the molds, and You’ve got yourself some beautifully handmade tallow soap!

Notes

  • Add Color: You can add a little mica powder to give it a soft, pastel color. It’s an easy way to make your soap unique!
  • Experiment with Scents: Essential oils can really personalize your soap. Lavender is great for relaxation, eucalyptus is refreshing, and vanilla adds a sweet touch.

Whether you’re looking for a new skincare routine or just want to get crafty, this recipe is simple, customizable, and totally rewarding. Happy soap-making!
