This laundry detergent is my favorite. You can find it at pretty much any store and on Amazon. It’s budget-friendly and, in my opinion, a safer option compared to other laundry products you find in stores.

It’s also hypoallergenic, so it’s perfect for those with sensitive skin!

ECOS Ingredients explained:

I always like to check out the ingredients of a product on the Environmental Working Group website. They give a score from 1 to 20 to show how toxic each ingredient is.

I’m adding a score next to each ingredient, ranging from:

• 1 – 2 (Low Hazard)
• 3 – 6 (Moderate Hazard)
• 7 – 10 (High Hazard)

• Water
• Cocamidopropyl Betaine (plant-derived surfactant): I don’t love this ingredient but it’s commonly used in products designed for use by babies, kids, and people with sensitive skin. Score:1-5
• Sodium Coco-Sulfate (plant-derived surfactant- cleansing agent. Score: 1-2
• Cocamidopropylamine Oxide (plant-derived surfactant). Score: 1
• Phenoxyethanol (preservative). Score 2-4
• Methylisothiazolinone (preservative). I wish they hadn’t included this product in the laundry detergent, considering its score of 7 but like I mentioned, it’s not easy to find a perfect non-toxic product in stores, so this is still the best choice.

How to use Ecos Non-Toxic Laundry Detergent

1. Follow the instructions on the bottle and add a little bit of branch basics oxygen boost to give your laundry a deep clean.
2. 1oz per HE (High Efficiency) load and 2oz per STD (Standard) load
3. Heavy soiled: 2oz per HF load and 3oz per STD load.
4. Hand wash: Use one teaspoon

To be honest with you I didn’t know what High efficiency and Standard load meant before writing this post.

After doing some research and learning more about it, I now understand that high-efficiency (HE) loads are designed to use less water, energy, and detergent than a standard load.

You can find out if you have a high-efficiency washer by looking at your washing machine and or the energy guide label.

The label will tell you how much water and electricity your washer uses per load.

If it uses less than 12 gallons of water and 6 or fewer kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity, you have a high-efficiency washer.

They provide detailed information on how their products are responsibly sourced and made with the environment in mind.

I’ve been using Branch Basics cleaning products for a while now, and it has been such an amazing experience.

Here is an overview of the ingredients found in the Concentrate and the Oxygen Boost with the score next to each ingredient.

Concentrate:

• Purified Water
• Decyl Glucoside: plant-based surfactant,  mild, natural, vegan, plant-derived, biodegradable, non-toxic, and sustainable cleansing agent (Read more about this product). Score: 2
• Organic Chamomile Flower Extract: An organic flower extract with Allergen (IFRA) Certifications, which certifies it is nonallergenic and is not a fragrance. Score: 2
• Coco-Glucoside:  A naturally derived surfactant ( surface active agent) derived from coconut. Score: 2
• Sodium Citrate: A plant-derived, biodegradable sodium salt that acts as a water softener.

How to use Branch Basics Concentrate and Oxygen Boost to do your laundry:

1. Follow the instructions on the laundry bottle to pour water and The Concentrate into the bottle using the fill lines.
2. Use ½ a capful per regular load.
3. For tougher stains and odors use the Oxygen Boost.
