Spray Deodorant Recipe:

I love experimenting with more elaborate DIY beauty projects, but sometimes it’s nice to have a few quick and reliable recipes in your back pocket especially one as practical as this spray deodorant!

This makes around 2 ounces.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons Everclear grain alcohol
  • 1 tablespoon witch hazel
  • 1 tablespoon distilled water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
  • 10 drops essential oils

Send it to yourself now and try it out when you’re ready!

Instructions:

1. Mix the base.

Add the essential oils to the alcohol and stir gently to combine.

2. Combine the ingredients.

Pour the mixture into a clean 2-ounce glass spray bottle using a small funnel. Then add in the glycerin and water.

3. Shake and use.

Shake gently before each use and spray underarms lightly.

Notes:

  • It’s not an antiperspirant so you’ll still sweat, but it should control odor effectively.
  • For very active days or hot weather, you might need to reapply once midday.
  • If you prefer a longer lasting option, you can add a pinch of baking soda or a few drops of magnesium oil (though those can slightly increase irritation for sensitive skin).
  • Any essential oils work.
  • Because of the alcohol, this should last around a year.

Why this recipe works

  • Everclear (grain alcohol) acts as a natural antibacterial, which helps stop odor at its source (it kills the bacteria that cause it).
  • Witch hazel adds a soothing, balancing effect great if your skin is sensitive.
  • Vegetable glycerin keeps your skin from drying out and gives the spray a soft, hydrating feel.
  • Essential oils like tea tree, lavender, or lemon add both scent and extra antibacterial power.
