If you’re looking for a simple, nourishing moisturizer that feels light on the skin but still deeply hydrating, this aloe vera moisturizer is one of my favorites.
This aloe vera moisturizer is creamy, fluffy, and perfect for everyday use especially if your skin needs a little calming love.
This recipe combines aloe vera gel with rich shea butter and a carrier oil of your choice, giving you the best of both worlds hydration and moisture.
I love how customizable it is, and the fact that it only takes a few ingredients makes it even better.

This recipe makes about 3 ounces, which is perfect for a small jar you can keep on your vanity or in the fridge.

Aloe Vera Moisturizer
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons carrier oil
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
- 12 drops essential oils

How to Make Aloe Vera Moisturizer
1. Melt the oils
Combine the carrier oil and shea butter in a heat-safe glass container. Place it in a double boiler and heat on low until everything is fully melted.
Once melted, remove from heat and let the mixture sit until it becomes solid again. This step is important for achieving that light, whipped texture later.

2. Whip it up
When the mixture has fully solidified, whip it using a hand mixer or whisk until it becomes light and fluffy. You’ll notice the texture change quickly it should look creamy and airy, almost like frosting.

3. Add aloe vera & essential oils
Gently mix in the aloe vera gel until fully incorporated. Then add your essential oils and whip once more to make sure everything is evenly blended.

Scoop your finished moisturizer into a clean jar, and it’s ready to use.

Notes & Tips
- You can use any carrier oil you like sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, or even grapeseed oil all work well.
- Using 12 drops of essential oil creates a 0.5% dilution, which is gentle enough for daily use. You can use any essential oils you enjoy.
- Most aloe vera gels already contain a preservative, which helps extend the shelf life. That said, this moisturizer is best stored in the fridge and used within about one month.
