I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…there’s nothing better than having a simmer pot at home, whether you’re hosting, cleaning, or simply want to relax and unwind. It’s such an easy way to make your home smell amazing without using artificial fragrances, and honestly, it just makes everything feel cozier.

I know my simmer pots usually look a little fancy, but I promise they’re super easy to make. You don’t need anything complicated just fruit, herbs, flowers, and a few extras like cinnamon sticks, vanilla extract (which you can even make yourself with my homemade vanilla extract recipe), or essential oils.

You don’t have to follow a strict recipe! Simmer pots are all about using what you have on hand. A few apple slices, some rosemary, maybe a splash of orange peel… it all works.

Simmer Pot Tips

If you’re new to simmer pots, here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Use a Stovetop or Slow Cooker: You can simmer your ingredients in a pot of water on the stove or let them warm up in a slow cooker. Just be sure to keep an eye on the water level so it doesn’t run dry,

2. Save Scraps for Later: Orange peels, apple cores, and leftover herb sprigs are perfect for simmer pots. Store them in the freezer until you’re ready to use them.

3. Adjust the Strength: If you want a stronger scent, add more ingredients or a couple of drops of essential oils. If it’s too strong, just add more water.

4. Refresh Throughout the Day: Simmer pots can go for hours, just keep adding water as needed to extend the life of your blend.

5. Experiment & Have Fun! There’s no right or wrong combination. If it smells good to you, it works!
