I really didn’t expect these bath bombs to turn out this cute. They actually look like something you’d buy at a little market or fair. 😅

If you want an easy Valentine’s DIY gift that feels cozy, romantic, and handmade, these Rose Chocolate Bath Bombs are such a win.

Here’s how I made them...

Rose Chocolate Bath Bombs

This recipe makes 3 medium bath bombs, perfect for gifting, sharing, or keeping all to yourself (no judgment).

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup Epsom salt
  • 1/4 cup citric acid
  • 4 teaspoons carrier oil (sweet almond, jojoba, or coconut work great)
  • 10 drops rose essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon cocoa butter
  • Dried rose petals
  • Medium bath bomb mold

Instructions:

1. Mix the Dry Base

In a large bowl, combine:

  • Cornstarch
  • Baking soda
  • Epsom salt

Mix very well and set aside.

2. Prepare the Scented Oil

In a small bowl, add:

  • Carrier oil
  • 10 drops rose essential oil

Stir gently to combine.

3. Bring It Together

Slowly drizzle the oil mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing continuously.
You’re looking for a texture like damp moon sand. It should hold together when you squeeze it.

If it feels too dry, add more carrier oil 1 teaspoon at a time until the texture is just right.

Want to save this for later?

Send it to yourself now and try it out when you’re ready!

4. Add the Citric Acid & Color

Gently mix in the citric acid.

Then add the cocoa powder a little at a time, mixing until you reach your desired chocolatey shade.

5. Shape the Bath Bombs

Pack the mixture tightly into both halves of the mold, slightly overfilling each side.
Press the halves together firmly and twist until the mold edges touch.

Carefully remove one side of the mold, then the other, and place the bath bomb on a flat surface.

6. Let Them Dry

Allow the bath bombs to dry undisturbed for at least 24 hours, or until fully hardened.
If they feel crumbly, give them more time.

7. The Chocolate Rose Finish

Melt a small amount of cocoa butter with 1 teaspoon cocoa powder.
Let it cool for a few minutes, then drizzle over the tops of the bath bombs.

Before the drizzle sets, sprinkle with dried rose petals.

They make unforgettable Valentine’s gifts, bridal shower favors, or the perfect excuse for a self-care night. Drop one into warm water, sink in, and let the stress melt away.

Notes:

  • Any essential oils will work.
  • Any carrier oil will work.
  • If the cocoa butter is too hot, it will start to dissolve the bath bomb, so make sure you give it time to cool down.
