Today I’m sharing with you a soft, natural, and beautifully scented baby powder alternative. This rose-infused homemade baby powder is light, gentle, and multipurpose, making it a great addition to your non-toxic homemade products.

This natural baby powder is super easy to make with just four simple ingredients.

Why Make Your Own Baby Powder?

Conventional baby powders often contain talc (which has raised safety concerns) or synthetic fragrances (which is better to avoid). This homemade version, however, is:

  • Talc-free & toxin-free
  • Soothing & gentle on sensitive skin
  • Multipurpose
  • Lightly scented with natural rose, no artificial perfumes.

Homemade Baby Powder Recipe

I told my friend from Healing with Simplicity, who has two little ones, that I was making this recipe for her, and it took me less than 30 minutes to make it! This is one of those versatile powders that’s always good to have at home.

I used a container I already had from Amazon, but you can use any airtight container.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup arrowroot powder: A silky-smooth alternative to cornstarch, helping absorb moisture naturally.
  • 1/2 cup white kaolin clay: A mild clay that soothes and softens without drying out the skin.
  • 1/4 cup rose powder : Adds a delicate floral scent while being naturally calming and anti-inflammatory.
  • Container (any container that keeps it dry).

I always like to check the ingredients I use on the EWG website, and every single one in this recipe comes up green with a 1 low hazard rating.

Instructions:

1. Mix the Ingredients

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.

2. Blend for a Smooth Texture

Pour the mixture into a blender or grinder and pulse a few times to break up any clumps.

3. Store in a Dry Container

Transfer your finished powder to a container to keep it dry and ready to use.

That’s it, simple, effective, and natural.

How to Use Homemade Baby Powder

Lightly sprinkle the powder on the skin, hair, or any area that could use a soft, moisture-absorbing touch. Use it as a gentle body powder, a dry shampoo, or to soothe your skin.

You can also use a powder puff to make it super easy to apply.

Even if you don’t have little ones, this powder has so many uses:

  • As a Dry Shampoo: Dab a little on your roots to absorb excess oil.
  • For Freshening Shoes: Sprinkle inside shoes to keep them smelling fresh.
  • As a Body Powder: Perfect for keeping skin dry and soft, especially in humid weather.
  • To Soothe Skin: The kaolin clay and rose powder make it great for calming irritation.

This rose baby powder is simple, multipurpose, and a much cleaner option than store-bought powders. Whether you’re using it for your baby, adding it to your natural skincare routine, or making it as a gift, it’s an easy DIY you should try.
