I’ve been obsessed with simmer pot recipes lately especially as the weather starts to shift and I’m looking for that cozy vibe. This Citrus Simmer Pot is one you’re going to want to make. It’s simple, refreshing, and will fill your home with that perfect citrus scent.
What is a Simmer Pot?
A simmer pot is basically a natural air freshener that involves simmering aromatic ingredients like fruits, herbs, and spices in water on the stove. As it heats, the simmer pot releases a nice fragrance that fills your home with comforting and seasonal scents.
It’s a simple, cozy way to make your space smell amazing without relying on synthetic and toxic air fresheners or candles. Plus, you can customize the scents to match your mood or the season!

I bought a very inexpensive simmer pot from Amazon since I didn’t want to use my two main pots, and honestly, it’s much cuter too!

4. Add Fresh Flowers (Optional)
If you’d like, toss in some fresh flowers for a pop of color and a delicate fragrance.Lavender, rose petals, or any flower that smells pleasant can add that little extra factor to your simmer pot.

5. Add a Few Drops of Essential Oil (Optional)
Add a few drops of orange or lemon essential oil for a stronger citrus scent, though this step isn’t necessary if you prefer a more natural fragrance.
6. Pour in Enough Water to Cover All the Ingredients
Now, add the water! Pour in enough water to cover all the ingredients in your simmer pot. Just be sure you’ve got enough water so everything can float around and infuse properly.

7. Simmer on Low Heat and Enjoy the Fresh, Citrusy Aroma
Place the pot on the stove over low heat and let it simmer. Check occasionally and add more water as needed to maintain the aroma throughout the day.
The smell will start to fill the air, and soon, your home will feel like a tropical paradise (minus the sunburn, thank you very much).
You can keep it on the stove for hours, just adding water as needed to keep that citrusy scent going strong.

Enjoy your citrus simmer pot 🍊🍋🌿
