You know that feeling when you walk into a Williams Sonoma store, and suddenly you’re transported into another world? The air smells like a perfect blend of citrus, spices, and fresh herbs. Every time I visit, I can’t help but think, I wish my home smelled like this!
I started making my own Williams Sonoma-inspired simmer pot at home, and in my humble opinion, it’s PRETTY GOOD.
This copycat Williams Sonoma-inspired simmer pot is the easiest way to make your home smell fresh, cozy, and a little bit fancy, without lighting a candle or baking a batch of cookies (because let’s be real, that’s way too much effort). Just a few simple ingredients, a pot of simmering water, and your house will smell like a luxurious kitchen store in no time.
As I’ve shared before in all my previous simmer pot recipes, I started making simmer pots at home mainly because of my dogs. I’m super cautious about the types of scents and chemicals I bring into our home. Strong artificial fragrances or candles can be overwhelming for them (and for me too, since I’ve become more sensitive to fragrances).
Simmer pots are a safe, natural alternative that makes my home smell amazing without worrying about any harmful effects on my pups OR family.

I love having them on when people are coming over, while I’m cleaning, or simply when I need to unwind and relax. Plus, I think my dogs love it too 😜.
Benefits of Using Simmer Pots
There are a million reasons to love simmer pots, and here are just a few I can think of off the top of my head!
- All-Natural & Non-Toxic: Unlike store-bought air fresheners or candles with artificial fragrances, a simmer pot is made with natural ingredients like fruits, herbs, flowers, etc.
- Makes Your Home Smell Cozy & Inviting: There’s something about the warm, fresh scent of citrus, herbs, and spices that makes any home feel more welcoming.
- Budget-Friendly: Most of the ingredients (like lemons, cinnamon, and herbs) are things you probably already have in your kitchen.
- Helps Purify the Air: Certain ingredients like citrus and rosemary are known for their antibacterial properties, which can help freshen up the air in your home.
- Creates a Relaxing Atmosphere: The gentle steam and comforting aroma can help reduce stress and make your home feel extra cozy.
- Aesthetic & Decorative: Even when it’s not simmering, a simmer pot looks beautiful on your kitchen counter or a side table, adding a rustic and homey touch.
- Eco-Friendly & Zero Waste: Instead of throwing out fruit peels or herbs, you can repurpose them into a simmer pot, making it a sustainable choice.
