If you love the smell of chocolate and want irresistibly soft lips, this cocoa lip balm is chef’s kiss. It smells like dessert, glides on smoothly, and makes the perfect little homemade gift (or treat for yourself!).
There’s something about cold weather that makes me obsessed with anything chocolate-scented candles, scrubs, body butter, you name it. But my lips? They always need extra love this time of year. I swear, no matter how much water I drink, they still get dry and flaky. And honestly, I’ve tried so many store-bought lip balms that either smell weirdly artificial or leave that waxy film.
This Cocoa Lip Balm smells like a mug of hot chocolate, glides on buttery-smooth, and gives your lips a natural glow without the stickiness. Plus, it’s made with natural ingredients like coconut oil, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil.

Cocoa Lip Balm Recipe
Whether you’re gifting them for the holidays or just making a little batch for yourself, this recipe is pure cozy perfection in a tube.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp castor oil
- 1 tbsp jojoba oil
- 1/2 tsp cocoa butter
- 1 1/2 tbsp beeswax
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
- 10–15 drops chocolate essential oil (0.5–1%)
- Lip balm tubes

Makes: about 8–9 lip balm tubes
Shelf life: up to 6 months
Instructions:
1. Melt and Mix Your Base
In a double boiler, combine the beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter, castor oil, jojoba oil, and cocoa powder.
Warm everything gently over low heat until completely melted and smooth.

2. Cool and Add Your Scent
Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool for 1–2 minutes.
Then stir in your essential oils. You can use a combination of peppermint-chocolate, orange-chocolate, or vanilla-mocha.
Want to save this for later?

3. Pour Before It Hardens
Work quickly here beeswax sets fast! Pour the warm mixture into lip balm tubes or small tins before it starts to firm up. A little funnel or pipette helps make this step less messy.

4. Let It Set and Enjoy
Let your lip balms cool at room temperature (or pop them in the fridge for faster setting).
Once solid, cap them and label if you want to gift them or stash one in every bag you own.
