As soon as I start seeing Christmas everywhere the twinkling lights, the peppermint mochas, the cozy sweaters I start craving all things gingerbread. And this weekend, I decided to bring that delicious scent into my skincare routine with this homemade Gingerbread Sugar Scrub.
It smells exactly like freshly baked cookies warm, spicy, and sweet but instead of eating it (though you’ll be tempted), you’ll be using it to make your skin glow and feel silky soft.
This recipe makes about 8 ounces, which is perfect for a small jar to keep by the sink or gift to a friend.

Gingerbread Sugar Scrub Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon cloves
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 15 drops of essential oils (optional vanilla, orange, or cinnamon work beautifully)

Instructions
1. Mix the spices
Combine the ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in a small bowl.

2. Melt the coconut oil
Warm the coconut oil gently until fully melted. Once it’s liquid, add in your essential oils (if you’re using any).
Want to save this for later?

3. Combine everything
In a larger bowl, mix the brown sugar with your spiced coconut oil mixture. Stir until everything is evenly combined and looks rich and crumbly. just like cookie dough.

To use Gingerbread Sugar Scrub:
Scoop a small amount onto damp skin and gently scrub in circular motions. Rinse and pat dry your skin will feel so soft, you might skip lotion altogether!

This little DIY is cozy, festive, and makes a perfect handmade gift for the holidays. Wrap it with a ribbon, add a cinnamon stick, and you’ve got yourself the cutest stocking stuffer ever.
Notes
- Any sugar will work, but I love the warm scent and fine texture of brown sugar.
- The essential oils are totally optional since the spices already smell amazing on their own.
- Store in an airtight jar and use within a few weeks.
