If you’ve ever spent way too long scrubbing your oven only to end up with burning eyes, sticky fumes, and still baked-on grease… I see you. I’ve been there lol. That’s why I started making my own natural homemade oven cleaner paste and it actually works.

I love this natural oven cleaner paste because it doubles as a degreaser, I make it with simple, non-toxic ingredients, and you can whip it up in under five minutes.

I actually have a whole category of non-toxic, natural cleaning recipes here on the blog. All my recipes are easy to make in case you’re looking to switch to safer alternatives.

Honestly, we have someone who helps us clean every couple of weeks, and she used to always ask me to buy Easy-Off. But every time I looked at the ingredients, I knew it wasn’t good for her or for us. Now, I just keep this homemade oven cleaner at home and it works just as well without any of the harsh chemicals.

I really like using this and then spraying with vinegar to wipe away. It acts even better when combined with a vinegar spray.

Here’s the recipe I use every time.

Homemade Oven Cleaner Paste Recipe

Ingredients

Instructions:

1. Add Essential Oils to Your Soap

Start by adding your essential oils (if using) into the liquid castile soap.

Step 2: Mix the Baking Soda and Lemon Juice

combine the baking soda and lemon juice. It’s going to bubble up a little (thanks to the baking soda and acid reaction), but that’s totally normal! Stir until it calms down.

Want to save this for later?

Send it to yourself now and try it out when you’re ready!

3. Add the Water and Create a Paste

Pour the soapy essential oil mixture into the baking soda mixture. Slowly add in your water, a little at a time, until it turns into a smooth paste. You want it thick enough to spread, but not too runny.

How to Use Homemade Oven Cleaner Paste

  • Spread It: Rub the paste all over the greasy areas of your oven.
  • Let It Sit: Leave it on for at least 15-30 minutes. If your oven is really grimy, let it sit longer.
  • Wipe Clean: Use a damp cloth to wipe away the paste (and all the grease and grime with it).

After wiping, I love giving my oven area a quick spray with vinegar. It helps cut through any leftover paste and gives it a streak-free shine.
