I didn’t touch the blog at all during the holidays. I had family in town and between hosting, cooking, and trying to be present, making recipes or writing was truly impossible. But now that the new year is here, I’m so excited to be back and I’ll be sharing way more recipes, DIYs, and natural living content with you.
If you’ve been trying to simplify your skincare and makeup routine and move away from toxic ingredients, this Creamy Tallow Foundation is about to become your new favorite product.
It’s deeply nourishing, customizable, and made with clean ingredients. Plus, it takes less than 15 minutes to make.
I’ve been using this formula for a while now and I love how it melts into the skin, evens out tone, and leaves a soft, healthy glow without feeling heavy.
This recipe makes about 5–6 ounces, which lasts forever.

Why Tallow?
Tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, E & K and mimics our skin’s natural oils beautifully. It’s incredibly healing for sensitive, dry, acne-prone, and mature skin and unlike many commercial foundations, it actually improves your skin over time.
Tallow Foundation Recipe:

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup melted tallow
- 1 tablespoon carrier oil (jojoba, olive, rosehip, or sweet almond work great)
- 15 drops essential oil (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon mica powder (adjust for your shade)
- 1–2 teaspoons non-nano zinc oxide (for coverage + natural sun protection)

Instructions:
1. Melt the Tallow
Slowly melt the tallow until it’s just liquid.
Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly. You don’t want it hot, just melted.

2. Add the carrier oil and stir well.
While the tallow is still liquid, add the carrier oil. This adds extra nourishment and helps create that smooth, creamy texture your skin will love.
Want to save this for later?

3. Add the essential oils (if using) and mix gently.
Choose oils based on your skin’s needs calming, balancing, or simply for a beautiful natural scent.

4. Add the zinc oxide and blend thoroughly.
This provides natural coverage and a boost of gentle sun protection.

5. Add the mica powder
A little at a time, mixing between each addition until you reach your perfect shade.

6. Whip the mixture
Whip the mixture with a hand mixer until it becomes light, fluffy, and creamy.
Transfer to a clean container and allow it to fully set before using.

Notes:
- Any essential oils will work.
- If the mixture begins to solidify before whipping, gently rewarm it until just melted again.
- Store in a clean, airtight container at room temperature. It will last about 6-12 months.
How to Use:
Apply a small amount with clean fingers or a makeup sponge and blend into skin for a soft, natural glow.
