If you’re a fan of DIY beauty products, you’ll love this homemade whipped tallow honey balm!
My homemade tallow sunscreen has been one of the most popular recipes on my blog, so I decided to order a bulk supply of tallow from Lady May Tallow. Their tallow is just perfect soft, spreadable, odorless and ideal for creating all kinds of amazing recipes.
This weekend, I made a couple of tallow recipes, and this whipped tallow honey balm was the first one I made. It’s packed with nourishing ingredients and smells delicious, too!

Whipped Tallow Honey Balm Recipe
One thing I wish I knew sooner about tallow moisturizers is that they are NOT like regular lotions. You really don’t need to scoop out a ton and try to rub it all over, because you’ll end up feeling super oily and sticky. Trust me, I’ve been there. Tallow is super rich and moisturizing, so just a little dab goes a long way!
That being said, here’s the recipe I made and absolutely love:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup tallow
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 1 tbsp avocado oil (or any carrier oil)
- 1 tbsp shea butter
- Vitamin E oil (a few drops)
- 10 drops essential oils (optional)
- Glass jar

1. Melt the Base
Start by creating your base. In a double boiler, combine the tallow, shea butter, and avocado oil. Melt everything over low to medium heat.
Stir occasionally to ensure everything blends smoothly.

2. Add Honey
Once your mixture is fully melted and blended, remove it from the heat. Stir in the raw honey.

Want to save this for later?
3. Add Vitamin E
Add a few drops of Vitamin E oil.

4. Add Essential Oils (Optional)
You can add 10 drops of essential oils. Lavender, tea tree, or chamomile are all great options.

5. Whip for Fluffiness
To get that light, whipped texture, first place the mixture in the fridge for about 30 minutes to cool slightly.
Once cooled, use a hand mixer and whip the mixture for a few minutes until it becomes nice and fluffy.

6. Store
Transfer it into your jars. I usually use 4oz jars from Amazon, which are the perfect size for this balm.

This is a super simple, whipped tallow honey balm to pamper your skin.
Whether you’re treating your hands, elbows, or even using it as a nighttime moisturizer, this balm will leave your skin feeling soft, nourished, and glowing.
