If you’re anything like me and trying to switch to more natural, non-toxic products, you know the struggle: itchy skin happens, but most store-bought sprays are full of toxic ingredients we can’t even pronounce.
So here’s my super simple, cooling DIY Anti Itch Spray that feels amazing on bug bites, irritated skin, post-shave itchiness, and mild sunburns. It’s clean, minimal, and takes less than 10 minutes to make.

Anti Itch Spray Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon menthol crystals
- 1/2 cup witch hazel
- 1/2 tablespoon aloe vera gel
- 5 drops essential oils (peppermint or lavender)

Instructions:
1. Warm the Witch Hazel
Heat the witch hazel on low heat until warm. It shouldn’t hurt to touch. Slowly add in the menthol crystals until dissolved. Then wait for it to cool down.

2: Mix the Aloe with Essential Oils
In a small bowl, add your essential oils to the aloe vera gel and mix well.
Want to save this for later?

This helps evenly distribute the oils before adding them to the spray base.
3: Combine Everything
Add the aloe vera mixture into the cooled witch hazel.

Stir well, then pour into a spray bottle.

Storage and Shelf Life
- Keep in the fridge for a few weeks.
- If you’d like it to last longer, you can add a natural preservative.
- Always give it a gentle shake before using.
How I Use It
- Bug bites
- Shaving irritation
- Heat rash
- Random itchy patches
- After being outside too long (sunburns)
It gives me that immediate cooling sensation without chemicals and I love it.
If you try it, let me know if you prefer peppermint (cooling) or lavender (calming). I personally love peppermint in the summer and lavender for sensitive skin days.
