How to Make Peppermint Lip Balm – Instructions:

1. Make Your Peppermint-Infused Oil (Optional)

If you want to enhance the natural minty essence, infusing your oil with peppermint leaves is a great first step. Simply:

  • Combine dried peppermint leaves with a carrier oil (like almond oil, jojoba oil, or coconut oil) in a small jar.
  • Let the mixture sit in a warm, sunny spot, shaking the jar occasionally.
  • Strain out the leaves, and your infused oil is ready to use!

If you’re in a hurry, skip this step and use plain carrier oil.

2. Melt the Ingredients

In a double boiler (or a heat-safe bowl set over a pot of simmering water), combine:

  • 1 tablespoon infused oil
  • ¼ cup beeswax
  • ½ cup shea butter

Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until everything is fully melted and combined. Avoid overheating to preserve the nourishing properties of the ingredients.

3. Add Peppermint Essential Oil

Once the mixture is melted and smooth, remove it from heat and stir in 25 drops of peppermint essential oil. This gives your lip balm its refreshing minty flavor and cooling sensation. Mix well to distribute the essential oil evenly.

4. Pour into Containers

Carefully pour the mixture into your lip balm containers. (A small funnel or a pipette can make this step less messy!) Work quickly, as the mixture will start to solidify as it cools.

5. Let It Set

Allow the lip balm to cool and harden completely, this usually takes a few hours. Once set, pop the lids on your containers, and they’re ready to use or gift!

These lip balms make amazing gifts for friends, family, or coworkers. Add a personalized label or tie a little ribbon around the container for an extra-special touch. It’s a thoughtful, handmade present that everyone will love.
