Let’s talk about something I’ve decided to try for 2025: the No Buy List. Basically, it’s a list of things I’m committing to stop buying for a certain period, in this case, the whole year! The goal? To save money, reduce clutter, and focus on what I truly need. So, here’s a peek at what’s on my No Buy List for 2025 and why I think it’s going to make a big difference.
I’m committing to not buying these things for a year, but honestly, as I’m in the process of decluttering my house, I’ve been able to see all the things I don’t really need to buy.
I hope this mindset will continue even after this year, helping me make more intentional decisions about what I truly need moving forward. It’s been eye-opening to realize how much I already have and how much I can live without!
Before anything else, you can copy and paste this wishlist directly into your NOTES app on your phone to help you stick to your no-buy year.

No Buy List 2025
1. Cleaning Products
This is a big one for me. I’m not buying any cleaning products this year. Instead, I’m making my own for most things. I’ve found that DIY cleaners are not only cheaper but also free from all those harsh chemicals. For things I can’t make myself, I’m sticking with Branch Basics or other natural cleaning solutions. It feels good to know I’m cutting down on plastic waste and using safer ingredients in my home. Plus, the cost savings? Huge.
2. Nail Polish and Salon Visits
Nail polish? Nope, not buying any new bottles this year. I’ve got a little collection that’ll last me, and I’m going to make it work. As for salon visits, I’m skipping those too. No more manicures or pedicures in 2025. I’ll be doing my nails at home instead, keeping it simple and saving a lot of money.
3. Beauty Treatments and Makeup
I’m also saying no to beauty treatments this year. That means no facials, massages, or any of the other tempting services. When it comes to makeup, I’m not buying anything new either. I’ve got everything I need, and I’m going to use it up before even thinking about replacing anything.
4. Clothing and Shoes
This one feels a little more challenging, but I’m committed. I’m not buying any new clothes or shoes unless it’s for a special occasion, like my birthday or something that I really need. Instead of browsing online for what to buy, I’m going to focus on wearing what I already have, and getting creative with outfits. No more impulse buys for me!
5. Seasonal Decor
I’m guilty of getting caught up in the seasonal decor cycle. Every holiday, I find myself picking up new items to decorate with, whether it’s fall pumpkins or Christmas wreaths. This year, though? I’m not buying any more seasonal decor. I’m going to use what I have and keep things simple. It’s amazing how much less stress I feel already by not constantly searching for the next thing to buy.
6. Organizers
I’m a sucker for pretty organizers and storage solutions, but this year, I’m going to resist the urge to buy more. I’ve got enough organizers to keep things neat, and I don’t need to constantly buy more.
7. Extra Skincare Products
The same goes for skincare products. I already have nice simple routine, so I’m not buying any new lotions, serums, or creams unless I run out of something essential.
8. Accessories
I’m not buying any new accessories this year. No new handbags, or cute jewelry. I’ve got plenty already, and it’s time to get creative with what I have rather than always looking for something new.
9. Books:
I love reading, but instead of constantly buying new books, I’ll go through my current books or read digital ones.
10. Kitchen gadgets:
My kitchen is fully stocked with the tools I need, so I’m not buying any more gadgets unless something breaks or wears out.
KEEP READING ONLY 17 MORE NO BUY LIST IDEAS.
I wasn’t sure if I should add a motivational phrase, a cute doggie photo, or just a “keep reading NOTE, so I went with the easiest option. ThIS No Buy List is long, but trust me, it’s worth reading
11. Phone accessories:
I don’t need to keep buying new phone cases, chargers, or other accessories. I’ll use what I have until it no longer serves its purpose.
12. Tech upgrades (unless necessary):
I’m not upgrading my phone, laptop, or other tech unless something breaks or becomes unusable.
13. Unnecessary subscriptions:
I’m cutting back on subscriptions I don’t use or need.
14. Health tracking tools:
I already have my Oura ring, Hatch, and Apple Watch, so I won’t be buying any new fitness or health gadgets this year.
15. Planners:
I already have a planner that I love, and there’s no need for me to buy another one until the end of the year.
16. Pens, markers, and notebooks:
I’ve got plenty of pens, markers, and notebooks, so no new ones for me this year. I’ll use what I already have.
17. Plants:
I really love plants, but I don’t need to keep buying more. I’ll focus on caring for the ones I have.
18. Coffee Machines and Tools
I’m also skipping coffee machines and tools. You don’t want to know how many I already own! No more coffee-making tools for me. I’ll stick with what I have and focus on using them.
19. Bedding
I’m also avoiding buying new bedding this year. I already have enough sheets, blankets, and comforters to last me an eternity, so there’s no need to add more. I’ll focus on decluttering, maintaining a few, and making them last.
20. Underwear
I’m also not buying any new underwear this year. I already have enough to get by, so there’s no need to keep adding more. I’ll make sure to take care of what I already have and focus on using it until it really needs replacing.
21. Pjs
I’m also skipping buying new PJs this year. I’ve got enough sleepwear to keep me cozy, so I’ll be sticking with what I already have and making the most of it. No need for extra PJs unless something wears out!
22. Pet clothing or costumes:
My dogs will be happy about this one! I’m skipping trendy pet clothing or costumes this year. I know they look adorable in them, but it’s just a no for me this year. They’ll still get their toys and treats, but no new outfits for them this year!
23. Toxic Products
Toxic products are another thing I’m cutting out this year. If you explore around my blog, you’ll see that I’m already on a journey of creating DIY products and switching to more natural alternatives. So, besides my No Buy List, my commitment this year is to continue focusing on being more natural and non-toxic in all aspects of my life. From cleaning to beauty, I’m going to try healthier, eco-friendly choices!
24. Candles
I love the ambiance of candles, but I’m going to skip buying new ones. I’ll continue to make my own candles or buy non-toxic ones.
25. Reduce Single-use kitchen items*
While this isn’t technically a “no buy,” I’m making a conscious effort to reduce my use of disposable kitchen items like paper towels, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, Ziplocs, and straws. Instead, I’ll use reusable or natural alternatives wherever possible and do my best to cut down on the overall use of these items. It’s not just about buying less, but also being more mindful of how I use things!
26. Anything I Can’t Afford AKA Debt:
This is a no buy for me. My husband and I paid off our debt in 2024! and we’re committed to staying debt-free. While we still use our Amex Gold for points, I pay it off every day. If I can’t afford it, then I’m not buying it. Debt is officially off the table!
27. Any TikTok, IG Made Me Buy It:
If I wasn’t already thinking of it, I probably don’t need it. I keep a wishlist in my phone notes and use it to stay mindful of my purchases. I’m avoiding impulse buys and sticking to what I truly need.
This No Buy List might seem a little out of order, but that’s because it’s a realistic one. I literally sat at my computer for an hour, thinking through everything I don’t need to buy this year. This list is my commitment to myself and to you now 😜! I’m publishing this post now on January 13, 2025, and once it’s live, it’s a reality. I’m not buying these things anymore.
Why I’m Doing This
You might be wondering why I’m doing this, and honestly, it’s all about setting priorities. I want to focus on: saving money, reducing waste, decluttering my house and cutting back on unnecessary consumption. I’ve realized that so many of the things I used to buy weren’t adding value to my life, they were just taking up space in my closet, my bathroom, and my bank account and making me super anxious. This year, I want to be more intentional with what I buy, and I’m excited to see how much I can save.
The No Buy List isn’t about depriving yourself. It’s about living more intentionally and focusing on what you truly need.
I’m excited to see how this no buy challenge will impact my finances, my home, and my overall mindset in 2025. If you’re thinking about trying it for yourself, I highly recommend it. Start by making a list of things you’re willing to skip for a while, and watch how much easier it becomes to stick to your goals.
