If you’re looking for an effective anti-aging face cream that’s natural and free of harsh chemicals, then this DIY tallow Face Cream recipe is perfect for you!
As I’ve been transitioning to more natural and non-toxic skincare products, I’ve found that creating my own skincare products at home can be just as effective (if not more!) than store-bought options.
I totally get it if you’re a little skeptical about whether homemade anti-aging face creams actually work. But trust me, you don’t need a bunch of weird ingredients to create something that hydrates, nourishes, and helps reduce fine lines. This cream is super simple, effective, and packed with skin-loving goodness!

Extra tip: I love keeping my skincare in a mini fridge, it’s a game changer, especially when I use this cream cold. It feels so refreshing and soothing on my skin!
Tallow Face Cream Recipe
This recipe makes around 5-6 ounces.
Infused Oil Ingredients:
- Green Tea Leaves
- Ground Coffee
- Rose Petals

Tallow Face Cream Ingredients:
- Jojoba Oil
- 1/4 Cup Infused Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Shea Butter
- 1/4 Cup Rendered Tallow
- 1 Tablespoon Beeswax
- 1 Tablespoon Arrowroot Powder
- 10 Drops of Essential Oil (Optional)
- Glass jar

Instructions:
1. Create Your Infused Oil
Start by creating an infused oil with green tea leaves, ground coffee, and rose petals. This is the foundation for the rich oils that will nourish your skin. Take a handful of each ingredient and add them to a jar. Then, cover them with a carrier oil of your choice (like jojoba or olive oil). Let this sit for 1-2 weeks in a warm place to allow the oils to infuse.
Once the infusion period is over, strain the herbs out.

2. Melt the Ingredients Together
In a double boiler, combine your infused oil, shea butter, rendered tallow, and beeswax. Heat over medium heat until everything is fully melted and combined.
Want to save this for later?

This creates the perfect base for your face cream, with the tallow and shea butter providing intense moisture and skin nourishment, while the beeswax acts as a natural emulsifier to bind everything together.
3. Add Arrowroot Powder
Once your ingredients are completely melted and combined, wait a few minutes for the mixture to cool slightly. Then, add in the arrowroot powder and stir continuously.
The arrowroot powder helps thicken the cream, giving it a smooth and creamy texture. It also absorbs excess oils and helps with the overall consistency of the cream. Keep stirring until the mixture is well incorporated.

4. Add Essential Oils (Optional)
Essential oils are optional. Lavender is great for calming and soothing, frankincense helps with skin regeneration, and geranium supports skin elasticity. Add about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil or combination, then stir to combine.
*Make sure they are truly pure essential oils. You can read more about essential oils in my Essential Oils Guide.

5. Pour and Set
Carefully pour your mixture into a clean container or jar. Allow it to cool and set completely, which takes a few hours at room temperature. Once the cream has hardened, you can whip it up with a hand mixer for a fluffier texture, or leave it as is either way, it will work!

6. Use and Enjoy!
Once your DIY anti-aging face cream is ready, you can start using it right away! Simply rub a small amount into your skin either in the morning or night after cleansing. This cream is deeply moisturizing, so a little goes a long way. Massage it in and let the nourishing ingredients work their magic!

Notes:
- Essential Oils: If you want to customize the scent and benefits, lavender, frankincense, and geranium are all fantastic options for skincare. However, feel free to use any essential oils that you love and have on hand.
- Shelf Life: This cream should last for a few months if stored in a cool, dark place. Be sure to check for any changes in scent or texture before using it, just to be safe.
- Customization: You can also experiment by adding other oils like rosehip seed oil or vitamin E to boost the nourishment.
