Have you ever smelled real vanilla beans? It’s not even comparable to the bottled stuff. It’s warm, soft, slightly floral… like baking day in the best way.

I started making vanilla powder because I wanted something simple and pure. No alcohol, no additives just actual vanilla. And once you make it, you realize how easy it is

Vanilla Powder Recipe:

There’s something about making your own vanilla powder that just feels grounding. It’s simple, it smells amazing, and it’s one of those little upgrades that makes homemade baking taste even better.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

1.Dry the Vanilla Beans

Place your vanilla beans in the dehydrator in a single layer.

Set it to a low temperature and let them slowly dry out. You’ll know they’re ready when you can snap them cleanly in half. They should feel brittle not bendy or soft.

This part takes patience, but it’s mostly hands-off.

If you don’t have a dehydrator you can use your oven on the lowest possible setting. Just keep a close eye on them because vanilla beans are precious and we are not burning them today.

2. Break the Beans

Once fully dried, break the beans into small pieces. They should snap easily at this point.

Want to save this for later?

Send it to yourself now and try it out when you’re ready!

This step makes it easier for your grinder to turn them into a fine powder instead of chunky bits.

3. Grind Into Powder

Add the broken pieces into your coffee grinder and blend until you have a fine, fragrant powder.

Store it in an airtight glass jar and keep it in a cool, dry place.

How to Use Vanilla Powder

One of my favorite things about vanilla powder is that it doesn’t add liquid to your recipes.

You can use it instead of vanilla extract in:

  • Frostings
  • Whipped cream
  • Dry baking mixes
  • Pancakes and waffles
  • Coffee or lattes
  • Homemade lip balms

Notes:

  • Make sure the beans are completely dry before grinding any moisture can make the powder clump.
  • Crushing them smaller before grinding helps get a finer texture.
  • If you want an ultra-smooth powder, you can sift it after grinding.
