This post is all about how to make coffee lip balms at home.
If you’re anything like me and coffee is basically a personality trait at this point… you’re going to LOVE this one.
This DIY Coffee Lip Balm smells like a cozy vanilla latte and feels so creamy and nourishing on your lips. It’s simple, natural, and made with ingredients you can actually pronounce — which we love over here.
And the best part? This recipe made 5 lip balms, so you can keep one in your purse, one in your nightstand, one in the car… and still have a couple to gift.

Coffee Lip Balm Recipe:
Ingredients
- 4 drops coffee essential oil
- 1 tablespoon coffee-infused oil (instructions below)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa butter
- 2 teaspoons beeswax
- 4 drops vanilla oleoresin

How to Make Coffee-Infused Oil
Add your ground coffee to a clean, dry glass jar. Pour your carrier oil over the coffee until it’s fully covered. Stir gently to combine.

Now you have two options:
- Slow infusion: Let it sit for a few weeks, then strain the oil through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to remove all the coffee grounds.
- Quick method: Place the jar in a double boiler and gently heat for a few hours.

Once strained, you’ve got yourself a rich, coffee-scented oil that smells AMAZING.
Instructions:
1. Melt the Butters and Beeswax
In a double boiler, combine:

- Coffee-infused oil
- Cocoa butter
- Beeswax

Stir occasionally until everything is fully melted and smooth. It should look silky and glossy.
2. Let It Cool Slightly
Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool for about a minute. You want it warm but not piping hot this helps protect the scent and quality of your essential oils.
3. Add the Vanilla & Coffee Essential Oils
Add the vanilla oleoresin and coffee essential oil.
Stir gently until everything is evenly blended.

4. Pour and Let Set
Carefully pour the mixture into lip balm tubes or small tins.
Let them cool completely until firm. This usually takes about 30–60 minutes depending on room temperature.

Notes
- Any carrier oil works! I used almond oil, but jojoba or olive oil would work too.
- You can swap cocoa butter for shea butter if that’s what you have on hand.
- If you want it softer, slightly reduce the beeswax.
- If you want it firmer (like for hot weather), add a tiny bit more beeswax.
