I’m obsessed with Christmas to the point that I start thinking about putting out my decorations on November 1st. Honestly, I would do it even earlier if it weren’t for Halloween 😅.
I’m super sensitive to fragrances, which is why I love making my own candles.
These Candy Cane and Christmas Tree candles smell amazing, look beautiful, and make the perfect homemade gift for the holidays.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll love these Candy Cane and Christmas Tree candles.

DIY Christmas Candles:
These candles fill your home with cozy, nostalgic holiday scents and add such a charming handmade touch to your house. Whether you’re lighting one during a Christmas movie night or gifting it to someone special, they’re guaranteed to spread cheer all season long.
Ingredients:
Makes one 7-ounce candle
- 1 1/2 cups soy wax flakes
- 30–40 drops essential oils (see scent options below)
- 1 tablespoon red candle dye
- 1 candle wick (cotton or wood)
- 1 heat-safe jar

Instructions:
1. Set Your Wick
Start by fixing your wick right in the center of your jar. You can use a glue dot or just a dab of melted wax to keep it in place. Make sure it’s standing straight that’s what gives you an even burn later on.
2. Melt the Wax
In a double boiler, melt your soy wax flakes and red candle dye together. Stir gently until the mixture is completely smooth and liquid.
Want to save this for later?

3. Add the Scent
Once melted, remove your wax from heat and let it cool slightly to 125–130°F. Then stir in your essential oils until everything is well combined.
Two holiday scent blends I love:
- Candy Cane: 55 drops peppermint + 35 drops vanilla + 15 drops sweet orange
- Christmas Tree: 55 drops fir needle + 30 drops cedarwood + 20 drops pine
Both smell incredible the first one is sweet and cozy, the second one is fresh and woodsy.

4. Pour and Set
Slowly pour your wax into the prepared jar, holding the wick upright as you go. You can use a clothespin or chopstick to help keep it centered.

Let your candle harden for 4–6 hours. Once it’s solid, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting.

You just made your very own Christmas candle. Wrap it with a cute ribbon or label, and it’s ready for gifting or light it up and enjoy that cozy Christmas scent filling your home.
