I saw this sea moss gel hair mask recipe once while scrolling on Pinterest, and of course, I had to try it.
If you’re looking for a natural way to nourish and revive your hair, a Sea Moss Gel Hair Mask might just be what you need. Packed with minerals and vitamins, sea moss is a fantastic ingredient for boosting your hair’s health.
This simple DIY mask is easy to make and will leave your hair feeling soft, shiny, and hydrated.
Sea Moss Gel Hair Mask Benefits
I did some research about the benefits of sea moss, and it is truly impressive.
1. Nourishes and Hydrates Hair
Sea moss gel is packed with vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, C, and E, which provide deep hydration to dry, brittle hair. It helps replenish moisture, leaving your hair soft, smooth, and manageable.
I absolutely love how sea moss gel deeply nourishes my hair. Ever since I started using this gel, it feels so much softer and hydrated. I’ve noticed that it gives my hair a natural shine, without making it greasy. A tip I’ve found helpful is to leave the mask on for at least 10 minutes, so it really has time to soak in.

This is what my hair looks like now.
2. Promotes Hair Growth
Rich in iodine and other essential nutrients, sea moss gel supports healthy hair growth by strengthening hair follicles and providing nourishment to the scalp.
I’ve been consistent with applying it every week, and I can see my hair is growing thicker and faster.
3. Strengthens Hair
The minerals in sea moss gel, such as calcium and magnesium, help strengthen hair from root to tip. Regular use can reduce breakage and split ends, making your hair more resilient.
4. Improves Scalp Health
Sea moss gel has anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for soothing irritated or inflamed scalps. It can help reduce dandruff, flakiness, and dryness, creating a healthier environment for hair to grow.
5. Adds Shine and Softness
Sea moss gel acts as a natural conditioner, enhancing your hair’s shine and softness. It smooths the cuticle, making hair look glossy and feel silky without the use of harsh chemicals.
6. Reduces Frizz
The moisturizing properties of sea moss gel can help reducing frizz. Sometimes I like to apply it right after washing my hair and leave it in for a little extra hydration.
7. Protects Against Damage
Sea moss gel contains antioxidants that help protect hair from environmental stressors like pollution and UV rays. It can act as a barrier, reducing the risk of damage.
8. Strengthens Hair Follicles
Sea moss gel’s high zinc content supports strong, healthy hair follicles, which may help reduce hair thinning and promote thicker, fuller hair.
Sea moss gel has definitely become a staple in my hair care routine, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a natural, nourishing solution that works wonders for both the health and appearance of your hair.
Here’s how to create your very own sea moss hair mask using a few key ingredients.
Sea Moss Gel Hair Mask Recipe
Ingredients:
- Sea moss
- Water
- 1 cup sea moss gel
- 2 teaspoons argan oil
- 10 drops essential oils (your favorite scent)

Instructions:
1. Prepare the Sea Moss
Start by adding some dried sea moss to a bowl with water. Let it sit for about 24 hours to soften up.

2. Blend the Sea Moss
After 24 hours, add a few tablespoons of fresh water and the softened sea moss into a blender. Blend on high until it becomes a smooth gel-like consistency.

3. Mix in
Once your sea moss gel is ready, add the nourishing oils. Drop 10 drops of your favorite essential oils (I love lavender or rosemary for the scalp!) into 2 teaspoons of Argan oil. Add this mixture to the sea moss gel and stir to combine.

How to Use Sea Moss Gel
Once your sea moss gel hair mask is ready, apply it generously to your hair. Let the mask sit for 5 to 10 minutes to allow your hair to absorb all the benefits. Then, simply wash it out.

Notes:
- Storage: To keep your hair mask fresh, store it in the fridge between uses. This mask lasts for about a week, so you’ll want to use it within that time frame for the best results.
- Customization: Feel free to experiment with different essential oils or add a few drops of vitamin E oil for extra nourishment.
This Sea Moss Hair Mask is a wonderful natural treatment that helps promote healthier, shinier hair.
