If you’re anything like me during the holidays, you want everything to smell like peppermint, vanilla and pure Christmas.
This Candy Cane Lip Balm is one of those easy DIYs that just feels festive the moment you make it. It only takes a few minutes to melt everything together, and the result is a creamy, hydrating balm that smells sweet and minty like a candy cane.
I love making these every year because they’re perfect for stocking stuffers, small gifts, or just to keep myself. Plus, they’re non-toxic, budget-friendly, and way better for your lips than most balms.

If you love making little gifts for friends, coworkers, or stocking stuffers, this one is such a cute idea. And since the ingredients are natural and gentle, it’s perfect for everyday use.
The tiny pop of red mica gives it a holiday vibe, but you can skip that if you prefer a plain balm.
Here’s how to make it!
Candy Cane Lip Balm Recipe:
Ingredients
This makes around 10 lip balm tubes
- 2 tablespoons carrier oil
- 2 tablespoons beeswax
- 1 ½ tablespoons coconut oil
- 5 drops essential oil
- Red mica powder (optional)

Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend:
- 3 drops spearmint essential oil
- 2 drops vanilla oleoresin
Instructions
1. Melt the Base
In a double boiler, combine the beeswax, carrier oil, and coconut oil. Heat gently until everything is fully melted and smooth.
Want to save this for later?

2. Add Essential Oils
Remove from heat and let it cool for 1–2 minutes so it’s not too hot. Then stir in your essential oils.

3. Add the Tint
Mix in a small pinch of red mica powder. Add more if you want a deeper tint, or skip it entirely for a clear balm.

4. Pour Into Tubes
Carefully pour the mixture into lip balm tubes or tins while it’s still warm and liquid.

5. Let It Set
Allow the balms to cool completely until solid. Add caps and labels once they’re fully set.

Notes
- Any carrier oil works. I used jojoba oil.
- Mica is optional if you don’t want a tinted balm.
