You know that fresh, rosy glow that makes you look like you just had the best nap, a matcha latte, and maybe fell in love with a stranger at Trader Joe’s? That kind of glow. That’s what I’m going for with this DIY natural blush recipe but without the questionable ingredients or a $40 price tag.

DIY Natural Blush Recipes

If you didn’t know that you can make a DIY natural blush at home, this post is proof that you can. It’s easy, there’s really no secret to it, and it works just like any other natural blush for a fraction of the price. You can choose your own colors, save this recipe for later, and it makes an AMAZING homemade gift. Honestly, this is one of my favorite beauty recipes so far.

Natural Cream Blush Recipe:

Cream blush is my go-to for that hydrated, barely-there glow. It melts into your skin like butter on pancakes, and this one actually is made with shea butter. So skin-loving and beautiful.

Ingredients:

1. Mix the Mica and Kaolin Clay

Start by mixing the red mica powder and kaolin clay in a bowl. Make sure they’re fully combined.

2. Melt the Shea Butter

Use a double boiler to gently melt your shea butter. Don’t microwave it ( DON’T ask me why).

3. Cool and Add Oils

Once your shea butter has cooled just a bit not hot, but still liquid, add in your essential oils if you’re using them.

4. Mix It All Together

Pour that liquid gold into the powder mixture and stir until it’s smooth and combined. It should look creamy.

5. Transfer and Let It Set

Pour your blush into a little jar or tin, then let it cool and harden. You can place it in the fridge to speed things up, but room temp is just fine.

Want to save this for later?

Send it to yourself now and try it out when you’re ready!

To Use: Just dab your finger or a brush in and tap it onto your cheeks. Blend it out with your fingertips or sponge.

Natural Powder Blush Recipe:

If you prefer a softer finish or want to set your cream blush, this recipe is perfect for that. It’s light, airy, and totally buildable. Also great if your skin leans oily or you just want something super simple.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

1. Blend It Up

Mix your red mica and arrowroot powder in a bowl until they’re totally uniform.

2. Add Your Scent (Optional)

Drop in your essential oil if using, and mix it really well. It might get slightly crumbly, that’s normal. Just break it down with a spoon or sift if needed.

3. Transfer

Carefully pour the finished mixture into your container of choice, small tins or glass jars work beautifully.

To Use: Swirl a fluffy brush in the powder, tap off the excess, and sweep it onto your cheeks.

Notes:

  • Color Customization: You can totally play with the mica. Add a bit of brown mica for a bronzier tone, or go lighter for a soft pink flush.
  • Essential Oils: These are optional but they do add a lovely scent. Geranium is super feminine and rosy. Rose is, well, rose.
  • Containers: I use tiny tins or old makeup jars. Just make sure they’re clean and dry before you pour anything in.
