Natural Onion Honey Cough Syrup Recipe

Ingredients:

Instructions:

1. Slice it up

Cut the onion, ginger, and lemon into thin slices. No need to peel anything; just give everything a good wash.

2. Layer it in

In a small glass jar, start layering the onion, ginger, and lemon until your jar is about ¾ full.

3. Pour the honey

Slowly drizzle honey over the top, making sure it seeps into all the little gaps. Use a knife to get out any air bubbles.

4. Seal and wait

Pop the lid on and let it sit.

5. Stir daily

Each day, give it a little stir. After about three days, the honey will turn into a more liquidy syrup.

6. Strain and store

Once it’s nice and infused, strain out the solids and keep your onion honey in the fridge.

How to Use Your Onion Honey Cough Syrup

I personally like adding a spoonful to my tea, drizzling it over warm water with lemon, or if I’m feeling bold, taking a spoonful (1 tablespoon) straight from the jar. It’s got a sweet, slightly spicy, and surprisingly smooth taste.
