Did you know you can easily make soap in your own kitchen without messing with lye or toxic ingredients? I used to think making soap was super intimidating like, don’t we need goggles and a bunch of scary chemicals? Well, not with this recipe! I found a simple way to make soap right in the kitchen, no lye required. Honestly, it’s so easy.

This natural soap really soothes dry, itchy skin without the use of harsh chemicals. I also added vanilla essential oils and it smells delicious.

I also made a Pink Himalayan Salt Soap for exfoliation last week in case you want to give it a try.

Benefits of the Ingredients in This Honey Oatmeal and Goat Milk Soap

1. Old-Fashioned Oats

  • Exfoliation: Oats gently slough off dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and refreshed.
  • Soothing Properties: They help calm irritated, itchy, or inflamed skin, making them great for sensitive skin types.
  • Moisture Retention: Oats contain saponins, which help cleanse the skin naturally while retaining moisture.

2. Honey

  • Moisturizing: Honey is a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture into the skin and keeps it hydrated.
  • Antibacterial: It has natural antibacterial properties, which can help with acne or minor skin irritations.
  • Soothing: Honey is great for calming redness and irritation, leaving the skin soft and glowing.

3. Goat Milk Soap Base

  • Hydration: Goat milk is packed with fatty acids that help moisturize and nourish the skin.
  • Gentle Cleanser: Its natural lactic acid acts as a mild exfoliant, helping to remove dead skin cells without causing irritation.
  • Skin Barrier Support: Goat milk contains vitamins (like A and D) and minerals that support healthy, balanced skin.

4. Vitamin E Oil

  • Skin Healing: Vitamin E is known for its ability to promote skin repair, making it ideal for dry or damaged skin.
  • Anti-Aging: It helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by boosting collagen production.
  • Moisturizing: Vitamin E locks in moisture, leaving the skin soft and supple.

5. Vanilla Essential Oil

  • I just love smelling like vanilla, and I think you will too!

As always, you can do your own research and read about all the extra benefits this soap has for your skin. The best part is, it’s all homemade and natural!

Ingredients:

This Honey, Oatmeal, and Goat Milk Soap is a natural way to hydrate and soothe your skin, with a little exfoliation and a hint of vanilla.

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Oatmeal

Option 1: Cook the oatmeal by simmering it with water until it’s soft. Let it cool before adding it to the soap mixture. This method adds extra moisturizing benefits to your soap.

Option 2: Grind the oats into a fine powder using a food processor or blender to create a smoother texture in your soap.

Option 3: Use the oats as-is by simply adding them directly to the soap mixture for a more textured, exfoliating bar. (I went with this option)

2. Melt the Goat Milk Soap Base

Start by cutting the soap base into blocks, approximately 1 inch each. I ended up with 7 blocks.
Next, melt it in the microwave. I followed the instructions on the packaging: 30 seconds in the microwave, then stir and add 10-second intervals until it’s fully melted.

3. Mix the Ingredients

Once the soap is melted, stir in the oats (or oatmeal), honey, vanilla essential oil, and vitamin E oil. Mix everything until it’s nicely blended.

4. Pour into Molds

Pour the mixture into your soap molds. For a nice touch, sprinkle a few oats on top. (This recipe made two bars of honey, oatmeal and goat milk soap.)

5. Let It Set

Allow the soap to cool and harden overnight at room temperature.

6. Remove and Enjoy

Gently pop the soap out of the molds the next morning. Your natural Honey Oatmeal and Goat Milk soap is ready to use or gift!

P.S. You can remove it from the mold in about 1 hour if you’re impatient like me, lol! Just don’t use it until at least the next day to give it enough time to fully set.
